The Cerro Gordo Community Ambulance Service serves the Cerro
Gordo, Oakley, Milmine, La Place, and surrounding areas. We
are a volunteer not for profit organization that was formed in
1982, and we are the longest serving EMS provider in Cerro Gordo.
The Cerro Gordo Community Ambulance service was formed when
Brintlinger's Funeral Home discontinued their Ambulance Service. A nine person board of directors oversees the service.
Daily operations are handled by a coordinator and two assistant
coordinators.
We operate two advanced life support ambulances at the
intermediate level.
Currently 20 EMTs and 8
dispatchers volunteer their time to assist area residents with
their medical emergencies.
Our EMTs are constantly training to
improve their patient care abilities - we hold monthly training
sessions, and our EMTs earn a minimum of 120 continuing
education hours every 4 years.
We are a member of the St. Mary's Hospital EMS system and under
new regional guidelines, our service now carries new drugs to
treat cardiac and breathing problems and to allow for greater
pain control. This allows us to better serve the public
without the need for outside assistance. |
